The Morning After: January 16, 2009

By sparty

It’s friggin cold outside! -5° wind chill has forced a couple parts of my body to go into my stomach.  This is retarded.

Of course, that isn’t nearly as cold as it was for those that were aboard US Airways Flight 1589 that crashed into the Hudson.  If you didn’t hear about the plane crash, you really need to stop watching ESPN360.

So let’s warm up with a cup of joe and a bunch of hot links.

With President Bush saying goodbye to the nation last night, Reggie Miller previews the changing of the guard.

This is the one time that the “What if,” should have been.

Tim Tebow will have to find someone else to be his sidekick next season, as Percy Harvin has declared for the NFL Draft. He won’t have to worry about his defense, as everyone is staying.

The Detroit Lions have hired their new head coach, and it is former Titans DC Jim Schwartz. We joke that 1 game would be a success, but what do Lion fans really need to see to feel comfortable that this is their guy?  I say at least 7 wins in his first season.

I don’t want to hear Spagnulolo’s name until next season when analysts are talking about his awesome rotation of Osi, Tuck and Kikwanuka at DE.

T-Sizzle may not be available to disrupt Ben Roethlisberger, and knock out Hines Ward.  I hear he is a free agent after the season.  I like him.

27 days until pitchers and catchers report!

The Rays BJ Upton is saying he might not be ready to start the season.

Boston fans are happy that they get Kevin Youkilis for 4 more years.  Basically means he will be gone in 4 years.

Rickey Henderson may be headed to the Hall, but says he is not be done.

The A’s are taking a look at getting Nick Johnson. Put Nick and Giambi back to back, a pitcher might throw about 20 pitches between the two.

In TV land,  Friday Night Lights returns to Network TV.  I know some of you have watched it on DirecTV, so the gag order is still applicable.

CNN has done a swell job of improving their reporters.

Every sports blog has posted it, so why not us as well; Kobe, selling ankle insurance…

The Top 20 Drinking Countries.  Canada seems kinda low, whatelse is there to do in the cold?

The Top Mary Jane stories of 2008.  I have to say, I was kinda disappointed by this link.

miz note: If it’s a wacky story and didn’t happen in Florida, it must’ve happened in…altogether now…Ohio!
