Goooooooood morning! (might want to turn the speakers down a smidge)
I so don’t want this week to exist right now. I want Sunday to be here more than ever. Sunday is going to be the best.
The World Champion New York Football Giants are going to begin their postseason title defense with a victory over the Philthadelphia Beagles. Don’t bring up the weak garbage about the victory the Iggles had a few weeks back. That game means nothing this weekend. The Champs are the better team, from top to bottom. Eli > McNabb. Earth, Wind and Fire > Westbrook and Buckhalter. Tuck and Kiwi > Philly OLine. This won’t even be close in the 4th quarter. The Champs are pissed and ready to handle their business. It is going to look a lot like this for Donovan, Tuck will be playing the role of himself and Osi.
Why else will Sunday be epic?
It will be friggin awesome Sunday. Tell me that 11 secs didn’t just get you stoked?
Ohio State will go another year with disappointment in a BCS game, losing to Texas in exciting fashion. The difference in this game? Colt McCoy didn’t skip 5 yard passes on the ground like Pryor.
Now that most of the big FA dominoes have fallen in MLB, some of the “affordable” players are starting to sign deals. Milton Bradley signed with the Cubs, and Pat Burrell is heading down to the team he just helped defeat. The Rays have one hell of a lineup.
So, why is JC Romero suspended?
Kinda sad news out of Minnesota. Twins owner, Carl Pohlad, died yesterday at the age of 93. Why is it kinda sad? Because the new ownership will probably spend money.
Antoine Walker, doing his best Charles Barkley. I bet he was looking for the samething that Chuck was looking for.
Wait, one more DUI, Jason Richardson.
You all have the money, call a friggin cab!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rondey Stuckey is the man, and other’s are starting to take notice.
If Stephon Marbury goes to Boston, plays 15-20 mins a night and doesn’t bitch, then helps the Celtics to a title? I will not watch one minute of NBA basketball in the 2009-2010 season.
The Big East will just continue to beat up on each other all the way until March. This time, ND got the best of Georgetown.
Pittsburgh is number 1 in the country. PITT is number 1 in the country???
There injury concerns going into this weekends NFL action. Anquan Boldin is nursing a hamstring injury that he suffered on a 71 yard TD reception. LDT may miss the Chargers playoff game, but who cares?
Jason Whitlock continues to show that he has serious sour grapes when it comes to ESPN. He will take shots at any personality that works for or has worked for the company that he thinks that he may be better than. I love reading Whitlock, but not this pettiness. I also hope he stops trying to be Phil Mushnick when it comes to the WWL.

Sunday’s giant loss will be epic.
Eli > McNabb good lord, uh, no.

I’m not going to say that the Eagles will beat the Giants. But I will say that this…

And yes, that coming from the guy who put only 1 point on his team in Bowl Mania.
And yes, again, that coming from the guy whose team won their bowl game.
And yes, one more time, that coming from the guy who’s going to win Bowl Mania. guyinthecorner(Quote)
gitc-were the spartans 7 1/2 pt underdogs? yes. so putting anything more than a pt was ballsy.
it is good to know that your claim to fame is a fantasy sports win, and being my lackey. sparty(Quote)

Ohio State is now 4-4 in bowl games, and 3-3 in BCS Bowls under Tressel. The 3 straight losses kinda puts a damper on things, but I would definitely not say “never” to the Buckeyes winning another championship game.
It’s funny — going into the game last night a lot of people said that Texas might be the best team in the nation (and by a lot of people, I mean the writers at ESPN who built that into their pre-game analysis). Now, because it is a close game, people are saying Texas isn’t very good, instead of realizing that maybe tOSU is actually good. I’d put more faith in Texas win as being good than Utah’s win over Alabama. Bama only beat 1 ranked team all year. And, even in that game, they “held on” in the 2nd half after a 1st quarter blitz put them way ahead. McCoy and Cosby both said in the post-game interviews that the Buckeyes were the best defense they played all year.
Most importantly, the 2nd half last night started to look like another embarassing BCS blowout loss. Funny thing is, the commentators said that it was just like the Buckeyes in BCS games to watch their offense go south in the 2nd half. In the last two games, the blowouts were in the first half…. but still… 2 Texas touchdowns, with 2 3-and-out series by the Buckeyes and it was beginning to look like the game was over. But, the Buckeyes picked up a key 3rd down on the next drive (with an incredible catch by Robiskie), and righted the ship. That’s what they’ve been unable to do in the past few big games – right the ship in the face of adversity. I feel good about this buckeye team and think they will be great next year. We’ll beat USC in the ‘Shoe in September on our way to another B10 title and BCS game. Maybe this time, we’ll win another one. natsfan74(Quote)
have i told any of you that the iggles are going to lose this weekend? sparty(Quote)
back to sports…isn’t Anquan Boldin always suffering from a hammy injury? and, you’re right about the “who cares” stuff concerning LDT’s playing status; they don’t need him.
LDT is slowly becoming Shaun Alexander? mizerle06(Quote)
get out! no way. they have great defenses in the Big 12, it is just that the offenses are so good! sparty(Quote)
miz-it was their record setting TD seasons that did them (LdT and Alexander) in. both started suffering injuries the following seasons. sparty(Quote)
that’s what I’m saying, chief. the dropoff for LDT is errily similar to the dropoff for Alexander. Alexander’s may have been quicker though. mizerle06(Quote)
serious question, sparty; did OSU have a good defense this year? I don’t recall hearing about their defense either way.
I’m pretty sure I saw that Texas averaged 44 ppg this season and they only managed 24 last night and didn’t score the go-ahead until deep within the final minute. OSU’s pressure really seemed to bother Texas most of the game until they started going up-tempo and wearing the Buckeyes out. mizerle06(Quote)
This is why i never faulted Tiki for leaving when he did (he was just an ass after he did leave). those two are going to have broken bodies when they retire. sparty(Quote)
Add Larry Johnson to the LdT and Alexander group. john(Quote)
OSU didn’t have USC awesome defense, but they did play better defense than anyone in the Big 12. Why? because Big 12 defense sucks a big dick. I was not that impressed with Texas’ defense, I was really disappointed with Pryor throwing the ball, he short armed so many passes. He must have missed 7-8 receivers because of just flatout shitty throws. I think the moment got to him last night, his head never really seemed in the game. sparty(Quote)
What Entertainment Books?
/no idea what we’re talking about guyinthecorner(Quote)
Larry Johnson also lost Willie Roaf and Shields from his line. the left side of that Chiefs line was a huge reason why him and priest holmes put up the numbers they did. I still think LJ can be a beast. sparty(Quote)
Next year’s Buckeye team is losing a lot.
Not sure about that greatness factor yet. Especially since I’ve yet to see Pryor step up and make a big throw.
Luckily the Big Ten will be rough again next year. But Ohio State won’t be close to one of the top teams in the country. gatortrey(Quote)
trey-disagree, they always plug holes on defense. if wells stays, him and pryor may run all over everyone in the big 10. sparty(Quote)
Wells ain’t staying. gatortrey(Quote)
probably not…i think Pryor will be outstanding. sparty(Quote)
going to be 29 degrees on Sunday, woohoo! sparty(Quote)
Pryor will be very good, but man he needs to work on that passing game.
It’s one thing to be off. It’s another to have your backup come in for passing plays. gatortrey(Quote)
he will become a better passer. best way to get better is to throw a lot, and that is exactly what they will have him do. sparty(Quote)
Umm… Entertainment Books? guyinthecorner(Quote)
So you don’t become a better passer by running more? john(Quote)
gitc-you serious?
john-i meant as far as his arm strength. he has little zip on the ball. you can workout all you want, but throwing it over and over and over makes it better. sparty(Quote)
Don’t tell him about the Entertainment Books until his Duke post is done! john(Quote)
When I was 13 we won a 3 on 3 tournament. I got a trophy and an Entertainment book.
Wooo! gatortrey(Quote)
I didn’t know they had mock trials for 13 year olds…. sparty(Quote)
ha! Basketball. There is a reason my nickname is Trey. gatortrey(Quote)
Pryor will be a good passer. Look at what he did in the MSU and Northwestern games. But, he has to work on it. Boeckman was always the better passer, but early in the year the offensive line was so shaky that the Buckeyes needed the more athletic QB — so I wouldn’t call the captain just a back-up. In fact, I think Boeckman will be drafted. He’s got a great arm and he showed again last night that he can make all the throws. But, once he gets hit, he gets happy feet (see the USC game, or LSU last year – great first few drives, then folded like a tent after a hit).
Wells will not be back, but the running game will be ok without him. Boom Herron turned it on late in the year and they’ve got a top running back recruit — and when Saine is healthy he’s also an excellent back. Posey played well as a freshman at WR, Small will be back, as will Sanzenbacher…. and the fact that 2 true freshmen beat out returning starters for offensive line jobs this year (then both got injured….) means the Bucks will have a good offense next year. Defensively, they lose a lot – but last year they signed the top 2 linebackers in the country and I expect big things from Sabino next year.
Another thing in the Buckeyes favor for next year — they play USC early and at home. USC will lose all 11 starters from their defense this year. But, they will reload and will still be a top 10 program. So, a big early win, on a national stage, against a top 10 team will propel the Buckeyes back into the title picture again like the win against Texas 3 years ago. natsfan74(Quote)
oh, i just thought you liked Boyz n the Hood sparty(Quote)
that is because our defense sucked. sparty(Quote)
Yeah anybody could really throw on MSU this past year. They were decent against the run though from what I remember Johnny(Quote)
OSU is a 9-3 team next year, with a very similar year to 2004. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it. gatortrey(Quote)
our defense was bad, period. sparty(Quote)
you didn’t nickname yourself, a la ocho cinco, did you, trey? mizerle06(Quote)

I will concede that Tomato Face > Andy Ried, but you can’t be serious about Eli > Nabb. marcomarco(Quote)
Eli (is luckier than) Nabb
Eli (is healthier than) Nabb
Eli (sells more Oreos than) Nabb marcomarco(Quote)
Eli leads game winning TD drive in Super Bowl. McNabb is overcome by nerves and pukes in the huddle and gets picked off by Rodney Harrison. sparty(Quote)
As a Syracuse fan that by default make me a McNabb fan and also somewhat of a Giant fan, I have to agree with Sparty. McNabb is the more talented QB athletically although he is closing in on the end of his career.
However, we are almost expecting Eli to complete the 3rd and long passes now. He has become clutch. McNabb will always be defined by his horrible choke job in the Superbowl unless of course he wns one which is looking less likely.
Just like a debate I had with a coworker. I said Manny is the best hitter in baseball right now. He said A-rod. I said Manny always comes through in the clutch, A-Rod doesn’t. Being clutch is an important quality.
Reggie will always be remembered not for his 500 career HRs but his big postseason hits. cycledan(Quote)
Sparty, I guess you are not as annoyed as I am about the NFC pairings since you are confident about beating the Eagles. I think they are a real good team. No way Giants lose to Arizona going from the desert to play in NJ in January. I don’t feel as confident about beating the Eagles. They are a good, well coached and talented team who is a division rival.
I think the Giants win since they are now healthier and more rested than they have been in a long time but they win by a nose. I guess a nose in football equivalients is 3 points? cycledan(Quote)
ugh, the clutch thing in baseball is a bad argument. sparty(Quote)
A-Rod is very clutch in the first 3 innings of the game, or when they Yankees are down by 10 runs. john(Quote)
Sparty,
Did a WHOLE statistic study/report on it years ago. I can forward you a copy.
Basically, we found it didn’t exist gatortrey(Quote)
Ohio State SUCKS! Tampa Bo(Quote)
HI guys, I’m alive. I am disappointed that the Buckeyes lost, but happy that they didn’t lose, a la 41-14. Pryor looked skittish, but he’ll get better. I was glad to see Boeckman tandomed in there. He looked great. I feel bad for the guy…I don’t think he got a fair chance, but then again, life’s not fair.
Totally missed Beanie get hurt…I was socializing too much, I guess. We went home in the 3rd and watched the rest at home. {sigh} Oh well, there’s always next year.
They will beat USC this September…I sure hope to be attending that game! I need to work on my connections now.
I went back and read the live comments and laughed when I saw someone say they thought they heard me scream. I did. jen(Quote)
Eli’s gonna get pwn’d on Sunday…no B2B for the Giants…McNabb is gonna have a great game.
