Good Morning Sports Fans…Anyone out there still on vacation this week? I am pretty much off until January 5th…another whole week to hang out…take in some more bowl games, watch some hoops….etc. Don’t know if I will be able to stand it…..it’s truly a curse.
The playoffs are now set in the NFL…
Shockingly In: Philadelphia Eagles
Shockingly Out: New England Patriots
All things considered the biggest story may be everyone’s preseason Super Bowl pick, the Dallas Cowboys getting eliminated…The best story maybe the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins return to relevance. Wild Card Weekend is set…
Saturday’s Games:
11-5 Atlanta Falcons @ 9-7 Arizona Cardinals
9-6-1 Philadelphia Eagles @10-6 Minnesota Vikings
Sunday’s Games:
12-4 Indianapolis Colts @ 8-8 San Diego Chargers
11-5 Baltimore Ravens @ 11-5 Miami Dolphins
The Byes: Tennessee, New York Giants, Carolina, and Pittsburgh….So what do you guys think?
[polldaddy poll=1230040]
[polldaddy poll=1230047]
So the Eagles owned the Cowboys yesterday – Completing another December collapse. Speaking of a collapse…evidently Tony Romo collapsed after the game in the shower….embarassing? Yes…but not as embarassing as slapping your wife in the face on National TV.
0-16 is complete…The Lions now assume the title of worst team ever after losing their final game to Green Bay. Where do they go from here? Some people seem to think that Bill Parcells would be interested in taking over….Seriously?
You gotta figure that heads start to roll today. Is Romeo Crennell out? Phil Savage Is… Who else will probably follow him? Tom Cable, Rod Marinelli, Herm Edwards….One Guy not worrying about his job is Mike Singletary who was deservedly handed the 49ers job for the next four years. In a bizarre twist – Jerry Jones is still backing Wade Phillips - Much to the delight of Sparty and most of the friends. Speaking of making Sparty happy…the Patriots miss the playoffs AND Tom Brady is behind in rehab?
Is Brad Penny the best answer to give to the Yankees off season signings? Apparently, the Red Sox seem to think so.
Basketball action will be recapped later today by GITC….in the mean time I found you a list of “the best of” from 2008…
Enjoy another short week – Bowl Week is in full effect this week…21 games in the next seven days as we count down to a UF BCS Championship….hopefully we get TWTWCFB everyday this week…In the mean time take a look back at the expert predictions for the NFL this year to see how badly most of us missed….

this makes me very happy.

Super Bowl = Titans vs. Giants

I don’t think I have it in me to root for the WCNYFG. I considered it, but no one on the team is really likeable.
Fandom aside, (and this is painful to suggest), we might see a manning bowl. Both teams look good this year. I don’t see anyone stopping the Colts

Go Fins!

It’s going to be a Manning Bowl. Where’d I put my cyanide tablets?
(Quote)
i hope minnesota and the cards win. i would love to play arizona in january, in Giants Stadium.
(Quote)
Do we get to mock Trey yet for not including the Cowboys in the playoffs his expert predictions?
Wait! He’s the only one that correctly called that gem. Now, most people’s Super Bowl picks are screwed.

Penny > Burnett
(Quote)
trey- how bout those redskins?
(Quote)
anybody that picked Dallas to win the Super Bowl is stoopid.
(Quote)
the chargers are still in it!
(Quote)
No, but Josh Bard is.
(Quote)
Sparty,
The skins failed. As did the Bears.
I’m still a genius.

Superbowl: Chargers vs. Panthers

john-just give in…The Champs are going to repeat. Which begs the question…
If the Champs do go back to back, tied in with 4 consecutive post season appearances, is Tom Coughlin the greatest Giants coach ever? Those are all things that Parcells did not do.
(Quote)
I bet that question never crossed anybody’s mind about 368 days ago.
(Quote)
how bout dem cowfags?!?
(Quote)
Sparty the Red Sox already had their CC and AJ in the form of Lester and Beckett. The Penny signing gives them a solid 5th starter to fill out the rotation. This was not about trying to match the yankees signing. Nobody can match the Yankees in terms of being able to sign players.
(Quote)
If Brady will not be ready to start next season the patriots will just either sign Cassel or franchise him and keep him for one more season.
(Quote)
why are you telling me?
(Quote)
I wonder if Sportscenter will mention the Cowboys or Favre tonight?
(Quote)
Favre = Overrated
He threw 2 of the worst interception yesterday I have ever scene.
(Quote)
i think sportscenter will be talking about brady’s knee.
(Quote)
you must not have been watching overtime during the 2008 NFC championship game then.
(Quote)
*hand raised* Oh oh, i watched, oh oh.
/horse shack’d
(Quote)
i liked the crawl last night that ’sources’ say Favre doesn’t like mangini holding him accountable for his stupid throws and having to talk about them in front of the whole team
(Quote)
i like the one about Tony Romo collapsing in the shower, only because he is gay, i mean okay..
(Quote)
Mangenius not liked? That’s crazy talk.
(Quote)
Brett Favre, Pro Bowl quarterback!
(Quote)
LdT looked like his old self
(Quote)
Ironic, that if the Jets had Pennington and not Favre yesterday, they most likely would have won.
(Quote)
re: LdT, especially after the game when he was saying he’s not sure if he’ll be able to play in the playoffs or not…but yeah, he looked good when he was playing
(Quote)
no, Pennington wouldn’t have won with the Jets.

re: romo
in his post game interview he basically said:
“we come back next year to try to make the playoffs and superbowl. if we win (shrugs shoulders), if we don’t (shrugs shoulders)…”
ladies and gentlemen, the leader of the cowgirls!

T.O. backs Romo, offers Cowboys owner advice

correction/clarification to above comment #1:
the 21 games in 7 days part is what makes me happy, not the UF BCS Championship part. but, somebody’s gotta win and I don’t want it to be Oklahoma, so a UF BCS Championship will make me happy for about one second…the first second when the game is officially decided. then, after that, I’ll be really annoyed because I have to listen to more “Gators are champs” crap.

I was checking our bowl mania and noticed that Patphish appeared in contention. I couldn’t remember him being there before and clicked on his entry. Then I realized that while all of us took Northern Illinois yesterday (I luckily only took them for 3 points), Patphish took LaTech. Not only that, but he took them for 21 points!
Explanation?

I’m scared to look at my bowl mania ranking so I won’t.

when NW beats Mizzou, gitc will be officially eliminated.
(Quote)
anybody heard anything about Mangenius getting axed yet?
(Quote)
a bunch of coaches should be canned over the next 24 hours. which means Spagnuolo will be interviewing, everywhere.
so how bout it, Pioli and Parcells to Detroit?
(Quote)
My radio is telling me the Jets owner is holding a press conference at 10:00. I’m guessing he will announce that he is signing Mangenius to a multi-year contract extension and that he hopes to bring Favre back for at least two more seasons, because if it ain’t broke…
(Quote)
@GITC: I follow FAU and Ball St, which means I know some stuff about NIU and LaTech. Fuck the Dolphins. And the Pats.
(Quote)
@ Miz, Jets presser at 10 am.
(Quote)
Why would Pioli go to Detroit to work under Parcells? If Pioli goes anywhere, he’s going to want full control.
(Quote)
john- i meant pioli as GM and Parcells as coach.
new post!!
(Quote)
I think the Pats should fire Belichick. Not making the playoffs! Unacceptable.
(Quote)
Parcells as coach? No way. If the Lions could land Pioli or Parcells to run the team though, that would be pretty impressive.
(Quote)
Pats are going to have to pay Cassell starters money if they want to keep him. i think they should sign Favre.
(Quote)
I think I picked LA Tech too, but my name is waaaay down on the bottom, I’m sure!
I know the Browns had an abysmal year, but I think Randy Lerner is not making his own decisions here. The dumb-ass fans in this city call in to sports radio like they know what’s going on, and they sound ridiculous. The management and coaches are not to blame for the injuries that this team has endured. They are responsible for the infantile actions of their players and not using discipline when necessary. What a shitty year.

Further evidence that the NYG transformation from ‘plucky’ to ‘arrogant’ is complete. Welcome to the dark side.
