@trevor – interesting question. Cutcliffe didn’t when Tennessee went in ‘98-’99 season. he got hired by ole miss and didn’t coach the BCS title game. it’s a possibility that mullen doesn’t coach…especially since it’s a month away.

I’m hearing it’s undecided.
I’m gonna be honest here. About 8 weeks ago people were ready to throw Mullen out of his booth and into oncomming traffic.
He’s been known to get conservative and not use our clear matchup advantages well.
He’s a solid coach, and I like him, Miss State is getting someone who will doa great job.
That being said. If/When Charlie Strong leaves, I’ll be a tad bit more upset.
Meyer is the key to this offense. Mullen just is an instrument.

@trey – the program has taken a big hit with Eric Plancher’s death and then Brandon Davis’ kidney failure this week. Whether O’Leary is responsible for those incidents or not, the program has a big stigma attached to it now that affects the current players, recruiting, public perception, etc. I don’t necessarily want him gone, but he has to go for the future success of the program. Plus the Sentinel is treating him like Boise treats Sparty.

As a Bulldog, I think this is a good move. There’s only one other candidate that I was hoping was in the picture: Wilson from OU. I love Mullen’s pedigree with QB’s; Alex Smith, Chris Leak, and Tim Tebow. Some can say that they aren’t great Pro QB’s, but when you’re used to the QB production that we have, we’re doing cartwheels over the future. We have a top QB recruit, who was wavering with the firing of Croom and the uncertain Head Coach status, but I think Tyler Russell will hold to his committment now. Can you believe the outgoing(fired) Offensive Coordinator, called up Steve Spurrier to take a look at this kid, and try to get him to come to South Carolina? That’s the calibre person that Woody McCorvey is.
In less than an hour all planes are expected to be on the ground. There is no time slated for a press conference. I’m glad that this is over, and we can move forward. It’ll be interesting to see how Mullen works the National Championship game. Bo Pelini did the same last year with LSU. Maybe MSU should contact Bo and ask him how he juggled the two.
